PRODUCT MATERIAL HIGHLIGHT- CORK & RUBBER GASKET

Rubber cork - a combination of ground cork particles and synthetic rubber - is a specially formulated material that has been at the forefront of gasket technology since the 1970s. Also known as cork rubber, this material comes in many different sizes and variations for a wide range of applications and industries.

Combination of primary granulated cork and rubber polymer (such as natural rubber, synthetic rubber, silicone, nitrile rubber, EPDM or neoprene), rubber cork is bonded together with glycerin glue applied under heat and pressure . The resulting formula, approximately 70% cork particles and 30% rubber, is highly elastic and compressible with minimal lateral flow, making it the optimal sealing and chemical solution for modern gasketing applications. Advantages of rubber cork

The respective properties of rubber and cork combine to create highly elastic formulations for variable and harsh environments. Rubber cork is highly resistant to oils, solvents and fuels, and moderately resistant to fungi, acids and extreme weather conditions. Due to its ability to withstand lateral flow, rubber cork is also resistant to impact, shock absorption and fluid penetration.

In addition to the physical and chemical elasticity of this material, other advantages of rubberized cork include high compressibility and flexibility (properties of cork and rubber, respectively) and broad fluid compatibility. It can be used with or without a pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) backing as it is already a non-slip material. Therefore, rubber cork also provides sound insulation and reduces the level of transmitted vibrations.

Typical Applications and Industries

Die-cut rubber cork boards are available in a variety of sizes, densities, and thicknesses for a variety of applications such as gaskets, gaskets, bumpers, protective pads, wire stripping, power transformers, and switchgear. The versatility of rubber cork allows it to meet the specific requirements of many industries, including automotive, aviation, rail, shipping, agriculture, petroleum and electrical.
